After struggling in the season opener Monday night, the Wisconsin women's basketball team bounced back and recorded its first win of the 2008-09 season by defeating Drake, 55-39 in front of 4,510 fans at the Kohl Center Thursday night. Thursday's game was the first time since Dec. 1, 2006 that the Badgers held an opponent to under 40 points. The last time came against Southern Mississippi when the Badgers won 88-37 at the Kohl Center. The Badgers had three people finish in double figures and sophomore Lin Zastrow was just one rebound away from recording a double-double. Junior guard Rae Lin D'Alie led all players with 13 points while Zastrow and sophomore guard Alyssa Karel chipped in 11 points each. Freshman post player Anya Covington also had a solid night from the field, going 3-of-5 and finishing with seven points. The Badgers shot 20-53 from the field and were 40 percent in the second half. |
