North Dakota State WBB Add Pair of Walk-ons, Shea Receives Clearance

It's "The Few, The Proud, The Bison", as the North Dakota State women's basketball roster dropped to seven healthy players during the second half of Saturday's game.

Junior guard Nicole Vigil is likely out for the rest of the season following a knee injury suffered with 13:25 left in the second half of the Western Illinois game . Vigil played in 13 games, averaging 3.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.

However, there was some good news. NDSU coach Carolyn DeHoff announced 6-foot junior forward Megan Shea (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong H.S.) received clearance Wednesday, Jan. 14, to begin practicing full-go with the Bison. Shea missed first 14 games due to complications from knee surgery.

DeHoff also said NDSU has added a pair of walk-ons -- 5-foot-8 freshman Tiffany Giese from Ortonville, Minn., and 6-foot-1 junior Kate Moser from Bismarck, N.D. to the roster. Giese joined the team on Sunday, Jan. 11 and had been a volunteer on the practice squad. Moser joined the team Wednesday. She played in five games for the Bison in 2005-06.

The Bison are still without the services of leading scorer -- 5-11 sophomore forward Abby Plucker, who is out until early February following a shoulder injury sustained at Denver on Dec. 15. Plucker averaged 14.2 points and 6.1 rebounds through the first nine games.
