Lady Lions Welcome Indiana to the BJC Sunday at 2 p.m.

Fans will receive a panoramic poster at the gate and can participate in postgame autograph session UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; January 9, 2009 — The Penn State Lady Lions (7-7, 2-2) close out their string of four consecutive Sunday home games when they host Indiana at the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday at 2 p.m. Fans in attendance will receive a panoramic poster while supplies last and will have a chance to participate in the postgame autograph session.   GIVEAWAY/PROMOTIONS: Fans will receive a panoramic team poster at the gates while supplies last. Sunday is also the annual postgame autograph session with the Lady Lions and head coach Coquese Washington. Sunday is the final SUBWAY FULL COURT FOUR PACK day for the Lady Lions. Sunday is also a faculty/staff day where fans that present a valid Penn State Faculty/Staff ID will receive admission for $5. Indiana is now 10-3 overall and 3-1 in Big Ten play. Amber Jackson leads four Indiana players averaging double figures with a 15.9 mark. Whitney Thomas is off to an outstanding start as she is second on the team in scoring (12.4) and tops the squad in rebounding (9.7).   ALL-TIME VS. THE HOOSIERS: The Lady Lions are 24-6 all-time against the Hoosiers, including an 13-1 mark in home games. However, Indiana has won three of the last four meetings between the teams. In their only contest last season, Indiana earned a 79-67 victory over the Lady Lions in the regular-season finale for both teams in Bloomington.   LAST TIME VS. INDIANA: Kam Gissendanner posted her fifth double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds, but it was not enough as Indiana handed Penn State a 79-67 loss on March 2. Tyra Grant accounted for 13 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists, while Janessa Wolff was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field en route to a 12-point, five-rebound performance off the bench.   LAST TIME OUT: The Penn State Lady Lions overcame a sluggish start to turn in a dominating performance in a 76-58 victory over Michigan on Jan. 4. Junior Tyra Grant led four Lady Lions in double figures and posted her eight 20-point game of the season with 24 tallies on 8-of-16 shooting. Senior guard Brianne O'Rourke added 13 points, four rebounds and six assists, while Mashea Williams had one of her best performances of the season with 10 tallies, five rebounds and a career high-tying eight assists. CLOSING IN ON 500: Senior guard Brianne O'Rourke needs one assist to become the eighth player in school history and the 22nd player in Big Ten Conference history to reach 500 career assists. O'Rourke will be the fourth Lady Lion in the Big Ten's 500-assist club, joining Tina Nicholson, Helen Darling and Jess Strom. O'Rourke will also be the first Big Ten athlete with 500 helpers since OSU's Kim Wilburn had 518 assists from 2003-06.   PAIR REGISTER CAREER SCORING MARKS: Junior Meredith Monroe and freshman Emily Phillips both had career scoring nights in the Jan. 4 win over Michigan. Monroe was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field en route to tying her career high with six points. She also had six points against Wisconsin on Feb. 3, 2008. It was the eighth perfect shooting performance of Monroe's career. Phillips accounted for a career-best five points after connecting on a three-pointer and a layup against the Wolverines. Her previous career high was three points, which she has in two games this season.   MASHEA LENDS HELPING HAND: Senior guard Mashea Williams tied her career high with eight assists in the Jan. 4 victory over Michigan. She previously had eight helpers against Northwestern on Jan. 22, 2006. With her eight assists against the Wolverines, Williams also reached the 200-assist mark for her career, becoming the 26th Lady Lion to reach the plateau.   ON THE BOARD: The Lady Lions pulled down 50 rebounds in the Jan. 4 win over Michigan. It is the most caroms by the Lady Lions since they had 51 against Syracuse on Nov. 12, 2006.   The Lady Lions hit the road for games at Purdue on Thursday, Jan. 15 and at Michigan State on Sunday, Jan. 17 before returning home to face Wisconsin on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. The Wisconsin game will be $1 dog night for those fans in attendance.
