Iowa 74, Northwestern 46

Kachine Alexander posted a triple-double (10 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists) tonight and tied the Iowa single-game assists.  Alexander tied the assists record held by four former Hawkeyes (Cara Consuegra, Michelle Edwards, LaTonya Tate and Laurie Aaron).  The last Hawkeye to post a triple-double was Cara Consuegra vs. Indiana on Feb. 3, 2000 (17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists).

 

Iowa has now won 15-straight over Northwestern and now lead the all-time series, 41-12

 

Iowa posted a season-high 25 assists tonight.  The last time the Hawkeyes had 25 or more assists was vs. Quinnipiac (Nov. 17, 2007).

 

Iowa's bench outscored Northwestern 21-5.  Hawkeye reserve Hannah Draxten netted a season-high 13 points of the bench.

 

JoAnn Hamlin scored 16 points on 8-10 (.800) shooting from the field.

 

Iowa was a perfect 8-8 (1.000) from the foul line.

 

Iowa outscored Northwestern 16-0 in fast break points tonight.

 

Iowa shot 50.9 percent (29-57) from the field, while Northwestern shot 33.3 percent (18-54).  Also, the Black and Gold shot 44.4 percent (8-18) from long distance, while the Wildcats shot 22.7 percent (5-22).

 

Iowa will have seven days off before its next game.  The Hawkeyes will challenge Michigan at home on Monday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.  That game is "Buck Night", as adults are admitted for only $1, while children and UI students are free.
